Early financial experiences and mindset formation
“My earliest memory about money was when I was about five years old. My mom would give me a one-peso coin to spend for the day whenever she left for work. That small gesture was my first introduction to understanding the value of money.”
Growing up, financial resources were limited, which shaped her early understanding of discipline and perseverance.
“I grew up in a family where money was very difficult. I often had to depend on other family members to support my studies. During college at the University of the Philippines, I had to stop after my junior year to work for a year before returning to complete my senior year while still employed.”
These experiences helped cultivate a deep awareness of financial responsibility and resilience—values that would later influence her professional path in financial advisory.
Turning point in her financial journey
A major shift in her financial perspective occurred early in her professional career.
“My turning point came in 2014 when I started working as an insurance agent with BPI AIA. At the age of 23, I was already earning six-digit figures. That experience made me realize the power of financial opportunities when paired with the right knowledge and discipline.”
Her financial approach today combines both spending and investing perspectives, balancing present needs with long-term wealth creation.
Motivation for joining the RFP® program
One of the personal financial goals that inspired her to pursue the RFP® certification was the responsibility of managing long-term financial commitments.
“My motivation for joining the RFP program was our house mortgage. I wanted to gain deeper financial knowledge so I could make better decisions not just for myself but also for my family.”
Through the program, she gained a broader understanding of financial planning frameworks and tools that strengthened both her personal and professional financial decision-making.
Influence of RFP® on financial thinking
“One of the most valuable lessons I gained from RFP was understanding investments more deeply—especially how NAVPU works. This knowledge helped me decide how to balance investments between mutual funds and insurance-based products.”
Her training also reinforced the importance of diversification, a principle she first encountered earlier in her career.
“The best financial advice I received during my bancassurance training was simple but powerful: ‘Do not put all your eggs in one basket.’ It may sound cliché, but it continues to guide my financial decisions.”
Applying RFP® insights in professional practice
“The lessons from the RFP program greatly helped me professionally. They allow me to guide my clients toward sound financial decisions and help them understand the value of investments, insurance protection, and long-term planning.”
Her role in bancassurance requires not only product knowledge but also the ability to interpret clients’ financial goals and translate them into actionable strategies—an area where her RFP® training plays a critical role.
Personal financial priorities and goals
Today, Chaitanya approaches financial planning with a more structured and family-focused mindset.
“Having a family of my own now has made me very meticulous about budgeting. One of my biggest financial goals today is building my son’s educational fund so that he can have opportunities that support his future.”
Her investment decisions are guided by careful analysis.
“When evaluating investments, I always look at the historical performance of funds as well as current market predictions before making decisions.”
Even setbacks, such as a condominium investment she had to withdraw from in 2016, provided valuable lessons about risk management and financial flexibility.
Recommendation of the RFP® certification
“If more Filipinos become financially literate, we can shift our economy from one dependent on consumption and ‘ayuda’ mindsets into one that is investment-led and future-ready.”
She strongly encourages others to pursue the RFP® certification as a pathway toward responsible financial leadership and broader financial literacy.
