Johnny Fernandez, RFP®, stands as a remarkable professional whose diverse expertise spans industrial hygiene, environmental engineering, and financial planning. As a Registered Financial Planner certified by the Registered Financial Planners of the Philippines, he brings a unique, holistic perspective to financial coaching—one that integrates technical precision with practical life strategies. His impressive credentials reveal a commitment to excellence across multiple disciplines.
As a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH®) and Registered Specialist in Exposure Decision Analysis, Johnny has established himself as an authority in health and safety risk assessment. His Licensed Sanitary Engineer credential from the Philippines and Post Graduate Certificate of Industrial Hygiene Science from Australia further demonstrate his technical prowess in environmental health.
Johnny’s expertise extends into financial wellness through multiple certifications. His completion of the Financial Coach Master Training program under renowned financial expert Dave Ramsey equips him with proven methodologies to guide individuals toward debt-free living and wealth building. This complements his RFP certification, which provides the structured framework for comprehensive financial planning.
Additional qualifications including ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, NEBOSH International General Certificate, and Certified Ergonomic Coordinator showcase his multidimensional approach to risk management—a skill he seamlessly applies to financial risk assessment and long-term wealth preservation strategies. What sets Johnny apart is his ability to synthesize knowledge from these diverse fields into practical advice. His engineering background brings analytical rigor to financial planning, while his health and safety expertise informs his approach to mitigating financial risks.
When asked, “What motivated you to join the Registered Financial Planner (RFP) program, and how did it influence your approach to financial planning?” Johnny shared,
“When I came across Rondell Tiongson at the church in the Middle East, it helped me significantly with how to systematically establish and carry out financial planning.”
His decision to join the program was rooted in the desire to bring the same methodical and structured approach he applied in his technical profession into the realm of personal finance. This motivation allowed him to bridge his expertise in risk management with the tools necessary to help individuals and families safeguard their financial futures.
In response to the question, “How has becoming an RFP helped you in making better investment and wealth-building decisions?” Johnny explained,
“The shared knowledge, experiences and expertise of the teachers when I attended the RFP class 88 helped me plan my personal investments and select them according to my appetite and ability to invest. Although they are not that big, I am reaping what I have sown.”
And when asked, “What’s the most valuable lesson you learned from the RFP program, and how have you applied it in your own financial journey?” he reflected,
“The basic principles of budgeting and the different types of investments helped me further recover from my financial turmoil. As I applied them, my kids learned as well. I have not only been using the learnings I have acquired from RFP. Since then, I have been helping my fellow OFW (pro bono) attain their financial freedom. Seeing them achieve it has been fulfilling for me since. Now that I am here in New Zealand, I will still help my fellow Filipinos and others who need help from a Registered Financial Planner.”
His journey is proof that financial expertise, when paired with a genuine desire to help others, can create lasting impact both locally and abroad.
